    In the first decade after the late Doug Weston opened the Troubadour in 1957, the West Hollywood club presented such influential folk-pop musicians as the Byrds, Joni Mitchell and Buffalo Springfield and legendary comedians like Lenny Bruce and Richard Pryor. In the 1970s, the Troubadour was the site of historic performances by Tim Buckley, Linda Ronstadt, Neil Young, Cheech & Chong, Kris Kristofferson, Bruce Springsteen, the Pointer Sisters, Tom Waits, George Carlin, Miles Davis, Steve Martin, Carole King, James Taylor, Leonard Cohen, Elton John and the poet Charles Bukowski.

    When Lynyrd Skynyrd released "Sweet Home Alabama" in 1974, it was seen, among other things, as a clear swipe at Neil Young. He was very critical of the South in his recent songs "Southern Man" and "Alabama," and it's hard to get less ambiguous than Ronnie Van Zant's lyrics: "Well, I heard Mister Young sing about her/Well, I heard ol' Neil put her down/Well, I hope Neil Young will remember/A Southern man don't need him around anyhow."

    Israeli music fans were disappointed last year as the Hamas terror war cancelled a Neil Young concert , and the BDS movement apparently led the Beach Boys to cancel a November concert - now they are to be recompensed several times over as the American superstar pop-rock band OneRepublic on Wednesday announced a May concert date for Tel Aviv. As part of the tour for its wildly popular third album Native that released last year and featured the top hit Counting Stars, OneRepublic announced on Twitter Wednesday "w OneRepublic's songwriter and singer Ryan Tedder on Wednesday morning was quoted by Mako as saying "we wanted to perform in Israel and visit it since we established the band.
