1/25/2015: Maroon 5’s new hit song “Sugar” is enjoying some sweet success! It made its way into the top 10 hits on the Hot 100 list, ranking at number 8. This is Maroon 5’s eighth top 10 hit in a row; so you could say the band is on quite a winning streak. Just think about all the iconic Maroon 5 hits you’ve heard on the radio over the past few years. From “Moves Like Jagger” to “Payphone”, these catchy tunes have been taking the country by storm. You just might find yourself humming one of those tracks as we speak! You know you want to.
1/20/2015: Maroon 5’s new music video for their hit song “Sugar” created a lot of hype at first, as the band claimed that they crashed a bunch of wedding receptions to create it. Fans have a way about finding out the truth, however, and it has been revealed that all of the weddings in the video were staged. One investigator pointed out that one of the brides is from America’s Next Top Model, and another actually got information from two actors in the video. The man and woman who played the Asian bride’s parents confessed on Facebook that the entire video, all of the weddings, were indeed staged. That post was later deleted, and replaced with a comment that asked fans if it really mattered if the video was staged? Their answer: no. It’s a great video, and fans shouldn’t think any less of it simply because it wasn’t “real”.
12/08/2014: The wedding bells are ringing! Adam Levine tied the knot with longtime girlfriend Behati Prinsloo this past July and the two could not be any happier. The secret ceremony took place in Mexico earlier this year, how romantic! Prinsloo has commented that being married to Levine is simply amazing; the two are just meant to be together. The lovely bride also did a little something different with her ring finger, as she got three dots tatooed in addition to wearing her new wedding ring. She wanted to do something different to convey her committment to her hubby, to signify the unique depth of their love for one another. Bouncing babies should be in the picture soon too, as Levine stated that the two are ready and excited for the idea of children.
12/01/2014: You've surely heard Maroon 5's hit song, "Animals", on the radio. For the second week in a row, the racy hit song holds its number one spot on the airwaves. Marroon 5 really outdid themselves with this song, as the eerie melody and upbeat rhythm make it easy to sing along without ever getting tired of it. The song's ranking as number one on the radio for two consecutive weeks serves to tell us that most people in the country agree, and love to jam to the hit single.
11/19/2014: Broom Broom, get out me car! Maroon 5 has been working quite a bit with car companies lately. Earlier this month, their manager revealed that the band's song, "Sugar" is set to be feature in a new Nissan campaign November 18th. Over the last 18 months, Maroon 5 has worked with three different car brands including Honda Civic, Kia and now Nissan. The band's manager, Jordan Feldstein, explained that working with the car companies serves to expose the band's music and introduce other promotional opportunities. He says that putting the song on a commercial before putting it on the radio allows the audience to find some familiarity with the tune, which often helps catapult a song to the top 10 hit list. This tactic is not uncommon, as many songs in movie scores sky-rocket to the top as well. Look out for that new Nissan commerical this month!
10/15/2014: Many advocates against sexual violence have been outraged by Maroon 5's new music video for the song, "Animal". The video depicts Levine as a butcher, who becomes enamored by and later stalks his female customer. The lyrics and the video combined seem to convey the message that men have a natural, predatorial tendency towards women. Its rather frightening, and could not have been released at a worse time. The advocacy for sexual violence awareness and elimination is higher than its ever been. You can imagine, then, how much negative feedback that both the song and the video are receiving. Levine most likely did not intend to convey such a controversial message, but this vocal group has torn both the song and the video to shreds for the sake of sexual violence awareness and elimination.
09/25/2014: Maroon 5's fourth studio album, Overexposed (2012), sold over one million copies and gave rise to four top 10 single hits. This success serves as validation for a risky decision the group made during the making of the album. The rock band recruited very high-profile songwriters and producers, per usual, but these experts were not from the rock world. They were from the world of pop. A risky decision, but one that definitely paid off!
