Founded in 2002, the expansion team known as the Houston Texans has already become an imposing force in the National Football League. For local fans, the establishment of the team filled a void created in 1997 when the Houston Oilers left town and turned into the Tennessee Titans.
After a shaky beginning typical of novice teams, the Texans eventually shaped into a strong unit. In 2011, the team captured its first division championship, topping the AFC South. They also earned their inaugural playoff appearance, where they beat the Cincinnati Bengals in a Wild Card game before succumbing to the Baltimore Ravens in the divisional playoffs. In the following season, the Texans secured their second playoff berth while setting a new team record for regular-season victories.
Despite its brief history, the team has inspired a variety of unique traditions. These include the team’s official mascot, Toro, an acrobatic six-foot horned bull; and “Battle Red Day,” when fans are encouraged to wear red at the stadium.
The Texans’ home games take place at Reliant Stadium, in Houston, Texas. With an impressive seating capacity of 71,054, the stadium frequently hosts a wide variety of live events. Houston Texans tickets can be purchased here at FrontRowTickets.com; just select from the listings posted on this page.
